Something special, but slightly surreal

Last night’s Fans’ Forum at Old Albanians gave supporters a chance to say farewell to three great servants of Saracens Rugby Club, Richard Haughton, Fabio Ongaro and Tom Mercey  Just three days before the biggest game in the club’s history, with Brendon and Edward busy elsewhere handling the appeal against Brendon’s ban, with Schalk Brits being awarded the RPA Players Player of the Year, and slightly unrelated, Exeter Chiefs making it into the Premiership for the first time, it was a very special, but slightly surreal evening.

It would have probably been a difficult evening for Del, Fabio and Tom, having to say goodbye to supporters after their outstanding contributions to the club, but they fielded a range of questions about their time at Saracens with sincerity and humour.  The questions covered best experiences, worst experiences, mentors, villains (players and referees), preparations and forecasts for the GP final, and a whole host more insights into life amidst this season’s special happenings.  A packed and appreciative clubhouse was kept entertained through the Q&A, and the guys were gracious enough to hang around afterwards to chat, sign autographs and shake hands with supporters wishing them well in their next ventures.

There’s a few photos here from the evening (thanks, Phil).
